Persistence and Determination Alone are Omnipotent!

When nothing seems to help...
I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet, at the hundred and first blow, it will split in two, and I know it was not that last blow that did it, but all that has gone before.
---Jacob A. Rils

In 1990 I made a decision to change my life. I decided to go back to school and give myself a college education. This was a turning point for me, for I never thought I could do college work; however, something was guiding me, a force from within.

It was the best gift I ever gave myself. The experience was not only educational, but challenging, spiritual, entertaining, awesome, and awakening. It changed my perception about life and helped me discover the real me within. For this, I am grateful!

I graduated from Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, Florida in 1995 with high honors. My major was Organizational Studies with a minor in Human Development. I thank my hubby, my kids, and my mentor for encouraging me to follow my dream, and for their support when the work seemed overwhelming.

Therefore, I encourage anyone considering college, or if you are in college and feeling discouraged, to not give up but persist and follow your dreams. It can have life changing consequences. It did for me.

SOMETHING TO PONDER

Albert Einstein said "the school of life is unplanned and choatic while the educational system operates according to a definite scheme...That explains...why education is such an important political instrument: there is always the danger that it may become an object of exploitation by contending political groups. While at school, the student may be taught ominous prejudices from which he may find it difficult to free himself in later years. The process of education may be so controlled by the state that its citizens will be kept in intellectual bondage". ---message to the New Jersey Education Association, Atlantic City, 1939
